Jamie – his life’s a business

In his own words it was a “complete pain in the arse”, but now Jamie Oliver is hoping to sell his vintage VW camper van for £55,000.

The 1956 Samba model accompanied the chef on a tour of Italy as part of his latest television series Jamie’s Great Escape.

Oliver’s Samba, which is the most sought-after version of the classic van, is fitted with a Porsche engine and has a custom-built trailer that converts into a kitchen.

Oliver has only agreed to go on the journey after his previous series left him exhausted, but the tabloid interest in him was so intense that he was unable to enjoy the journey according to friends. And he also tired of his warring retinue continuing their petty squabbles int he camper van.
