DOUBLE Michelin-starred pub chef Tom Kerridge is clearly not a man to be trifled with. A group of six enjoyed a hearty meal at The Hand & Flowers, his Marlow gastropub.
After a three-course meal, five members of the party ordered coffee, which was served with a chocolate delicacy.
The caffeine-shy diner enquired whether she too could have a treat to finish off the meal but was disappointed to be told this privilege was only reserved for those who paid for coffee. Not satisfied with this response, the lady called the establishment the next day to speak with Kerridge directly. The BBC2 Proper Pub Food presenter was unapologetic, she told friends. The chocolates are expensive and can only be awarded to coffee drinkers, Kerridge apparently told her.
Kerridge, who is a brand ambassador for Nestlé, clearly knows the value of a chocolate.
