We never did think much of Nigella Lawson. The haughty wife of Charles Saatchi is a crap personality, and some of the recipes in her books do not work.
Now she is just one of the latest micro-celebrities to get her own TV show, on the hopelessly bad ITV, which cannot get anything right these days. Lawson’s new daytime show has lost 40 per cent of its audience in the space of a week!
The ITV show, called Nigella, had 800,000 viewers for its debut on Monday last week and one million viewers the following day.
But by this Monday the audience had slumped to just 600,000 and has stayed there ever since. With its mix of chat and cooking, Nigella’s show has been roundly panned by critics.
The Domestic Goddess interviews her posh friends, like actress Greta Scacchi while knocking up an aubergine and cheese roll. But they will soon be avoiding her like a stale McDonalds. How to Be a Domestic Goddess: Baking and the Art of Comfort Cooking – if you must buy it from Amazon, click here and we get 5%
Other guests have included Irish bore Terry Wogan, “Lord” Stephen Fry and Brooke Shields.
ITV said they were sticking by the show, which is mid-way through its run.
“It’s a new programme and it is going to take time to bed in. The audience has fluctuated slightly but we have no plans to move it at this time,” a spokeswoman said.
