Britain’s best-known chef has had enough of Television – at least in its present form.
Sources inside Jaimie’s production company FreshOne.TV have been telling industry insiders they plan to break away and launch their own Jamie.tv.
TV Broadcaster Channel 4 would not comment on the story, but its senior execs said to be deeply angry at the decision, which the super-chef made after years of exasperation with the “pygmies” who run his shows.
Just as he dropped Sainsbury’s after they had taken him to the top, Oliver is now planning to drop the commercial broadcaster that has given him a platform for the past decade.
He has been approaching other TV chefs at Channel 4 – many of whim feel the same way, but none has so far signed up with Jamie.TV. The domain Chef.tv. has also been registered and this might become the vehicle that unites Channel 4’s kitchen cabinet.
